Gold Recycling
Ashley Morgan
Recycling your gold is an excellent way to create jewelry that is fresh and beautiful. Not only will you be cleaning out gold that simply sits in your jewelry box, you'll be getting gold credit towards your project, and you'll be creating your piece in a way that is as green as possible.
The process: we take your gold and test it to find the purity. We then melt it back down to 24k gold, and add the needed metal alloys to make it the gold karat of your choice: we usually recommend 14kt or 18kt. Then, your gold is shaped into the jewelry of your dreams!
This was my client's heirloom piece: a rarely-reached for ring, studded with diamonds we knew we could reuse beautifully.
After pulling the diamonds from the ring, I did a layout with the stones on a hand-carved piece of wax that would be cast as the final pendant, using my client's recycled gold.
The final result of this recycled gold project was a gorgeously textured pendant with my client's diamonds scattered in a celestial arc. The hammering was all done by hand, and it gives this lovely piece a wonderfully organic feel.
